If you're already enjoying the Nintendo Switch but feel like you need something more, here's the solution. Nintendo has just announced the new portable New Nintendo 2DS XL, which includes a series of improvements for playing your favorite games.
A Simplified Yet Powerful Portable
This year Nintendo not only surprised us with the Nintendo Switch console but also recently announced the new portable New Nintendo 2DS XL. As for features, it is a simplified version of the New Nintendo 3DS XL, retaining most of the improvements over the original 2DS and 3DS models (including better processor performance, additional controls, and Amiibo compatibility), but without an autostereoscopic 3D screen, and with an aerodynamic design. Unlike the original 2DS, this new 2DS XL uses the same design as the 3DS XL but keeps the 2DS screen.

The system software of the New Nintendo 2DS XL is otherwise identical to that of the New Nintendo 3DS, being compatible with all games released for the 3DS and DS (excluding those that require the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot and including New 3DS exclusive games like Xenoblade Chronicles 3D), and offering online features such as Nintendo Network for multiplayer and online games, Nintendo eShop to download and purchase games, and SpotPass and StreetPass. With a 4.88-inch screen and a weight of around 260 grams, this handheld lets you play all games in 2D.
Cameras, Accessories, and Variants
The New Nintendo 2DS XL maintains the two rear cameras for taking photos and video in 2D and 3D, as well as augmented reality capabilities. A plus is that the box already includes the AC adapter, unlike the 3DS XL which was sold separately. Nintendo has presented versions of the handheld in black with turquoise frames for the US market, and white with orange and gold details for the Japanese market, as well as a limited Dragon Quest XI edition (black and silver with a metallic Slime on the cover) exclusive to Japan. The New Nintendo 2DS XL will go on sale in the United States on July 28, 2017, at a price of $149.99.
