Samsung Japan’s October 13, 2026 notice puts selected Galaxy phones and tablets in an October–November 2026 One UI 9 update window for Japan. One UI 9 is based on Android 17, and Samsung says the rollout is sequential and its timing may change without notice.
Galaxy models on Samsung Japan’s One UI 9 list
A transcription of Samsung Japan’s model list published by 9to5Google names these devices:
| Galaxy family | Models listed |
| Galaxy S | Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, Galaxy S26 Ultra; Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Ultra; Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24 FE; Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Ultra |
| Galaxy Z | Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5 |
| Galaxy A | Galaxy A57, Galaxy A55, Galaxy A54, Galaxy A36, Galaxy A25 |
| Galaxy tablets | Galaxy Tab S11, Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra; Galaxy Tab S10, Galaxy Tab S10+, Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S10 FE, Galaxy Tab S10 FE+, Galaxy Tab S10 Lite; Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S9 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 FE+; Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024); Galaxy Tab A11; Galaxy Tab A11+ / 5G; Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro |
The schedule applies to Japan. 9to5Google notes that Samsung Japan’s selection is not a complete global compatibility list, so a model’s absence from this regional list does not settle its eligibility elsewhere. Because Samsung describes the rollout as sequential, the schedule also does not mean every listed device receives the update at the same time.
For US owners, Japan’s October–November window is not a US release date. NeoTeo previously covered the reported Galaxy S26 rollout in an earlier One UI 9 update; this follow-up focuses on Samsung Japan’s model selection and its separate language-specific feature rollout.
Gemini task automation has a narrower Japanese-language rollout
Samsung Japan says Japanese-language support for Gemini Intelligence task automation is rolling out sequentially on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy S26 series and Galaxy Tab S12 series. This is a separate, smaller group named for a particular language feature, not the full One UI 9 device list.
Check for an update on a Galaxy device
To check manually, open Settings > Software update > Download and install > Check for updates. Samsung says updates are available only for supported devices. Its One UI update instructions provide the same steps.
