Hated by many and loved by few, the finale of the second Star Wars trilogy sparked considerable controversy among fans. But that didn't seem to matter to a group of Star Wars fans who released Revenge of the Sith, a shot-by-shot remake.
We all love the first Star Wars trilogy. However, opinions divide between those who like and those who dislike (the majority) the second Star Wars trilogy. And while we wait for the premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, a group of Star Wars fans has just released Revenge of the Sith, a shot-by-shot remake. Knights of Renesmee Ltd, You're All Sackless Pictures, and TDS Productions are responsible for this homemade recreation that, it must be said, is absolutely absurd. The work of a couple of friends with some toy lightsabers and a lot of free time results in this version of Revenge of the Sith, which is more of a demake than a remake.
Don't expect a quality production like those seen in Star Wars: Liberation and Darth Maul: Apprentice. Here the settings are living rooms, car interiors to represent starship cockpits, and an incredibly dreary beach where the final battle unfolds. The sound effects are canned, the costumes are terrible, and everything is filmed with laughter in between. Undoubtedly, the terrible production values of this recreation straddle the line between tribute and parody. Watching it, you can't tell if these people think the Revenge of the Sith remake is great or horrible.
But one can say that creator Tim Hoekstra and his fellow filmmakers are having an absolute blast with this remake. If you survived the hundred and forty minutes of the original film, you can easily endure the hundred and fifteen minutes of this Revenge of the Sith remake. At least enjoy Hoekstra's performance in the infamous Mustafar Duel scene when he says “It's over Anakin, I have the high ground” fast-forwarding from 1:30:10. Laughter is guaranteed.
