The First Look at the New Suit
Thanks to a tweet from Matt Reeves, director of the new "The Batman" trilogy, we finally get to see the new Batman, played by British actor Robert Pattinson. In this short video, the British actor shows off his new suit for the first time. Batman is back!
A Different Armor
The sequence, filmed by cinematographer Greig Fraser, shows a Batman with a suit different from the one Ben Affleck wore, which was more influenced by the Dark Knight comic book saga by Frank Miller. For Pattinson, on the other hand, they opted for a metallic armor like the one Christian Bale wore in Christopher Nolan.
A Familiar Precedent
This promotional camera test tool that Warner Bros has decided to pursue has a recent precedent with Joker, directed by Todd Philips and starring Joaquin Phoenix, winner of two Oscars. Before its release, a sequence like this was shown where we saw Phoenix as Arthur Fleck and then a close-up of his made-up face.
The Confirmed Cast
Warner Bros and DC are starting to show their first weapons. After the announcement of Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, some expectation was generated, and even more when its three-part saga format was announced. The cast has been confirmed in recent months, with important names such as Zoe Kravitz (Catwoman), Paul Dano (Riddler), Jeffrey Wright (Gordon), Andy Serkis (Alfred), John Turturro (Carmine Falcone), and Colin Farrell (Penguin).
DC's Inconsistent Direction
In conclusion, in the midst of the weak debut of "Birds of Prey: The fantabulous emancipation of one Harley Quinn" (which was renamed "Birds of Prey: Harley Quinn"), I wondered why DC and Warner choose such different styles and tones for their projects. It is true that the paradigm shift that Marvel generated in recent years had a strong impact on the superhero film industry, but Warner Bros, in order to give freedom to its projects, has been very irregular. The problem is the lack of criteria since there are projects that are treated with less seriousness or with different tones like Suicide Squad or Batman vs Superman, unlike what was Joker or films that have been more than acceptable like Shazam, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman.
We hope that with "The Batman" and the new installments of "Wonder Woman" and "The Flash" they can give DC the direction that this wonderful universe deserves.
