This weekend Disney bombarded us with releases at the new D23 expo, both for the big screen and for its new streaming platform, Disney+. In the Star Wars universe, the most significant news came from The Mandalorian and the long-awaited return of Ewan McGregor, but that wasn't all. Star Wars IX: The Rise of Skywalker made its D23 appearance, featuring the panel presentation with the full cast and an official poster, as well as the second trailer that dives a little deeper into this final part of the trilogy.
A few minutes ago, the trailer shown behind closed doors at D23 was finally revealed. There we see a montage of the most iconic moments of the entire saga, leading up to the scene in question, where we see Rey with a red lightsaber like Darth Maul's, antagonist of Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999). This has already sent hype through the roof, and for good reason. Daisy Ridley, the protagonist of these new installments, who received the Jedi legacy from Luke Skywalker, seems to be having conflicts with the dark side.

Now, if we cool down and look closely at the trailer, keeping in mind how Disney has known how to deceive us in previous installments, we can think that everything is a product of Palpatine's illusion. There are many possibilities, and surely the focus is elsewhere and not on this sequence of a few seconds.
The release date is approaching, and we are ready to see if the saga's conclusion will remedy some issues that weren't liked in the previous one. Star Wars IX: The Rise of Skywalker will hit theaters on December 20.
