The long-awaited Super Bowl night gave us a new preview of a highly anticipated sequel. Isla Nublar erupts, and wildlife is in danger of extinction, while a conspiracy may put the entire planet at risk. Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and the dinosaurs are back in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Four years have passed since the theme park Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs that broke containment. Isla Nublar is now abandoned by humans while dinosaurs roam freely in the jungles until a volcanic eruption threatens their existence. Owen and Claire organize a campaign to rescue the dinosaurs, but during the expedition, they discover a conspiracy led by a group of scientists who have created a new species, which could return the entire planet to a dangerous order where dinosaurs become the dominant species once again.
A Darker Sequel
While Jurassic World tried to stay close to the classic formula that Steven Spielberg established for the franchise, this sequel could create a much darker atmosphere, and judging by the horror scenes in the trailer, it seems to have done exactly that. The new trailer makes one thing very clear: scientists don't learn from their mistakes. In the previous film, we saw a new type of scaly monster: the Indominus Rex. And we all know how that turned out. We also see Owen trying to locate Blue, the last of the four Velociraptors he trained, who is missing, while a war between dinosaurs and humans is being waged. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the second film in a new trilogy, and it will pick up right where Jurassic World left off.
Cast and Crew
Stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are back, along with BD Wong. New to the cast are James Cromwell, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Geraldine Chaplin, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, and Isabella Sermon, with the return of Jeff Goldblum as the iconic Dr. Ian Malcolm. Produced by Universal Pictures, J. A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) directed the film from a script by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly (Jurassic World). Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be released in theaters on June 22, 2018.
