The Hateful Eight: Quentin Tarantino's New Film

The Hateful Eight is the new Quentin Tarantino film, where eight characters must spend the night in a cabin due to a snowstorm. A Western with the Tarantino touch where anything can happen. Unmissable!

Set a few years after the Civil War in Wyoming (USA), The Hateful Eight introduces John Ruth, who is escorting a prisoner, Daisy Domergue, to Red Rock. During the trip they meet another bounty hunter named Major Marquis Warren and Chris Mannix, a renegade from the South who claims to be the new Sheriff of the town. Due to a snowstorm, the four seek refuge in a cabin where they meet four more strangers. As the storm goes on, the eight strangers soon discover they may never reach Red Rock after all.

Quentin Tarantino's eighth film maintains the Western genre seen in Django Unchained. The Hateful Eight was almost cancelled after the script leaked last year, but after directing a live reading of it, Tarantino changed his mind (fortunately) and filmed the movie. An interesting detail is that the film is shot in two versions. The first is in 70mm Panavision, with an overture and an intermission, running 182 minutes (three hours and two minutes), which Tarantino will present on a limited-time tour.

By contrast, the regular cinema version runs 176 minutes, six minutes shorter, not counting the 12-minute intermission. The starring cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Demián Bichir, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen and Bruce Dern. Produced by The Weinstein Company, the film is written and directed by Quentin Tarantino (Kill Bill, Django Unchained). The Hateful Eight is scheduled to be released on December 25, 2015 in 70mm Panavision, while the regular version opens on January 8, 2016.
