Xbox's Cloud Playtime preview starts at $3.99 for 10 hours

Xbox began its Cloud Playtime Insider preview on October 21, 2026, with introductory US-dollar packages starting at $3.99 for 10 hours. The other options are $7.99 for 25 hours and $11.99 for 50 hours. The purchase covers cloud-streaming time, not a Game Pass catalog or the games themselves.

The hourly cost falls as the package gets larger: the 50-hour option works out to about $0.24 an hour, compared with about $0.40 for the 10-hour option. Those figures are calculated from the listed package prices and hours.

What Cloud Playtime buys

Cloud Playtime is prepaid time for streaming games through Xbox Cloud Gaming. It does not provide access to the Game Pass catalog. Players need to own or buy a cloud-playable game, except for select free-to-play titles, and use a supported device. Xbox says purchased time remains available until it is used.

Xbox describes the paid packs as ad-free, with shorter waits and high-quality streaming. Xbox also offers some Insiders a separate free cloud-gaming test with ads.

Who can try the preview

Xbox Insiders without an active Game Pass subscription can try Cloud Playtime, subject to market, device, account-eligibility and preview-ring conditions. Xbox said a broader rollout was planned for November 2026.
