Alerts are on! Every follower of the saga created by George Lucas (now Disney) is filled with doubt. A new film in the saga takes us back many years, when the great Han Solo was just stepping into his role as a smuggler, before becoming a leader of the Rebel Alliance. A new trailer ahead of the release has come to light, and at NeoTeo we tell you what it brings.
If there was a character in the original trilogy who brought the necessary charisma and humor, it was Han Solo, played by Harrison Ford. This time, the one who wears that mantle is Alden Ehrenreich, known from films like Hail, Caesar! and Blue Jasmine. Well, it seems poor Alden had some trouble with his portrayal of Solo, which led the production to call a coach to get his performance off the ground. Along with that, there was also the change in the director's chair, which initially belonged to Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, who, after many problems, left their place to hand it over to the acclaimed Ron Howard. We can also add to the conflicts the accusation of plagiarism made by an artist against Disney for the posters released very recently.
Several months have already passed since those events, and with this new trailer, expectations that the film will come to a good end are higher.
"I'm a driver, I'm a pilot," says Solo in the first seconds of this latest preview. In these two and a half minutes, Disney gives us a glimpse of the plot in which Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson) organizes a heist and wants Solo as his pilot. The rest of the team is made up of Lando Carlissian (Donald Glover), who is the current owner of the Imperial Falcon and a famous smuggler; Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke), who, despite not giving us too much information, hints at having power and glamour; Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), who needs no introduction; and Val (Thandie Newton). We also have a new droid, L3-37 (Phoebe Waller-Bridge), which adds to the marketing factor just like K-2SO did in Rogue One.
A fact we didn't know until now was the identity of the enemy of Han and company in this new adventure. It's Paul Bettany, who plays Vision in the upcoming Avengers, and he will have the role of ruining Beckett's plans as the ruthless Dryden Vos.
On the technical side, as always, there is not much to criticize. Visually it looks very good, and something that will make many happy is that John Williams, creator of all the melodies that come to mind from Star Wars (and many more), is in charge of composing the main theme of the film. The one who will handle the rest of the soundtrack is John Powell, who was nominated for an Oscar for How to Train Your Dragon.
This new poster is meant to counter the reported plagiarism that emerged last month.
"Solo: A Star Wars Story" is set to release on May 25 in the United States and on May 24 in several other countries. The truth is that we are facing the biggest question mark this franchise has had since what The Last Jedi left us. Can this new spinoff prove that all the problems it had were simple missteps, or will it be the beginning of Disney's downfall with one of the biggest franchises in film history?
