How to Activate God Mode in Windows 10

With each major update, Microsoft removes part of the "old Windows" and integrates it into its new Settings section. In many cases, the transition is incomplete, and features are lost, but there's still one resource at our disposal: the famous God Mode. In essence, this mode behaves like a "super control panel", consolidating dozens of system options in one place. The best part? You don't need external software to activate it.

Many of us have relied on the Windows Control Panel and its variants for over two decades. Almost everything we need to optimize and modify the operating system's behavior lives there. As if that weren't enough, a significant number of online tutorials are based on the classic Control Panel, and regardless of what they say in Redmond, its experience remains superior.

Today, the Control Panel in Windows 10 presents itself to the user as if it were an app, and many of its options were never fully transferred to the new Settings section. "Patience" or "identity problems" were some of the reasons cited, but Windows 10 has been with us for over five years. Between the official vision of "Windows as a service" and the desire for greater control, the only thing that seems to come to the rescue is God Mode.

Activating God Mode in Windows 10 (and Other Windows Too)

The first step to access God Mode is to create a new folder on your desktop. Don't put anything inside it; the key is to rename it with the following string:

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Exactly as shown, without spaces or additional symbols. If you do it correctly, the folder will change its icon, adopting the same one the Control Panel uses. Double-click the icon and everything God Mode offers is at your fingertips.

These are just some of the values you'll find there.

Of course, we can't ignore the feeling that God Mode is in its final days. With each additional operating system cycle, Microsoft deepens the departure of the Control Panel, and it's likely that in a future build it will disappear completely. Personally, I hope the transition is very slow. "Old habits die hard..."
