KyTyPS5 has reportedly taken another step toward running demanding PlayStation 5 software on PC: newer builds reached 10–18 FPS in Demon’s Souls Remake and about 11 FPS in Astro Bot. The results remain limited demonstrations, not complete playable games. GTA V offers the clearest example of the distinction: its PS5 version briefly rendered 3D gameplay at roughly 40–60 FPS in the North Yankton opening, then crashed during early progress.

KyTyPS5’s newest reported step forward

KyTyPS5 is a free, open-source PlayStation 5 emulator written in C++. Its project documentation lists Windows x64 and Linux x64 support, experimental macOS support and Vulkan 1.3 as its graphics API target. It also describes the project as being in early development, with compatibility and behavior subject to change between builds.

The September 12, 2026 report of Demon’s Souls Remake at 10–18 FPS was the newest dated development in this progression. A September 13 report also described Astro Bot reaching approximately 11 FPS, accompanied by substantial rendering errors. Those figures belong to specific reported builds and configurations; they are not standardized benchmarks or universal performance targets.

That distinction matters. A game can render characters, environments and real-time scenes without being reliable enough to play from beginning to end. Here, the milestone is compatibility: KyTyPS5 is handling increasingly complex 3D software, even though the results are still rough around every possible edge.

Demon’s Souls Remake and Astro Bot remain demonstrations

The two newer observations show different kinds of progress:

The table’s numbers are not interchangeable. Frame rate depends on the game, scene, build and test conditions, so the 40–60 FPS North Yankton result says nothing about GTA V’s open-world performance. Likewise, the newer Demon’s Souls Remake and Astro Bot figures should be read as dated snapshots of development rather than promises about what every PC will achieve.

GTA V’s 40–60 FPS result has a narrow scope

Earlier September demonstrations showed the PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto V moving beyond menus and loading screens. In the North Yankton opening, KyTyPS5 reportedly rendered 3D environments, characters, sound, the HUD and direct character control at approximately 40–60 FPS on high-end PC hardware.

That was an important compatibility milestone—but not a playable release. The build crashed near the shutter leading to the police encounter, before the first gunfight. A separate test reached the open world at below 15 FPS, briefly rose to the mid-40s during a Franklin-and-Lamar cutscene and then crashed.

So, can GTA V currently be played from start to finish through a PS5 emulator? No. The demonstrations reach fragments of the opening sequence or the open world, but they do not deliver a complete, stable game.

The result still matters even though Grand Theft Auto V already has a native PC version. The point is not to replace that release. It is to show that a PS5 emulator can begin handling a large commercial 3D game with real-time rendering, a much more demanding compatibility milestone than merely displaying a menu.

Why stability matters more than the headline frame rate

KyTyPS5’s own project documentation warns users to expect crashes, graphical glitches, low compatibility and poor performance. Those warnings line up with the behavior seen in the reported demonstrations: impressive flashes of rendering followed by broken graphics, low frame rates or a crash before sustained play.

For a PC gamer, that makes KyTyPS5 a project to watch rather than a straightforward way to play PS5 games. The practical question is not simply whether a title appears on screen. It is whether the emulator can maintain correct rendering, process gameplay systems, move through different areas and remain stable for the length of a session. The current demonstrations have not crossed that line.

They do, however, show why emulation development can accelerate in visible jumps. A project may spend one phase barely reaching menus, then begin rendering a cinematic, then reach a controllable 3D scene. Each step expands compatibility, even when the result remains unusable as a finished game.

The road to GTA VI remains speculation

The KyTyPS5 progress does not demonstrate GTA VI running through a PS5 emulator. Nothing in these results provides a reliable timetable for that game, and progress with Grand Theft Auto V, Demon’s Souls Remake or Astro Bot cannot be converted into a launch forecast for another title.

The meaningful takeaway is narrower—and more useful. KyTyPS5 is moving from menu-level demonstrations toward limited real-time rendering in demanding PS5 software, while crashes, rendering errors and low performance remain central obstacles. For now, that is a genuine emulation milestone, not a replacement for native PC releases or a playable route to GTA VI.
