From the creators of BioShock comes a new horror game. Its name is Perception, and it stars a blind young woman who must solve mysteries and escape a mortal presence that stalks her in a mansion.
From the Creators of BioShock
A group of former Irrational Games developers who worked on games like BioShock and its sequels took their first project, Perception, to Kickstarter.
The Story of Cassie
The game is a first-person horror adventure that tells the story of Cassie, a blind girl who has visions of an abandoned mansion. After months of investigation, she discovers the mansion in Gloucester, Massachusetts, a peninsula overlooking the Atlantic. Once there, Cassie finds the place is worse than her nightmares. A ghost known as the Presence, which has tormented the inhabitants of the place for generations, is hunting poor Cassie.
Gameplay and Mechanics
Considering Cassie's condition, Perception's gameplay will differ from many games in the genre. There won't be an arsenal of weapons to survive the dangers that await in the mansion; instead, Cassie will have to use her wits, her cane, and her phone. The young woman can "see" inside the mansion by tapping her cane, but she must be very careful because there is a risk of making noise, which increases the chances of being discovered by the terrifying Presence. Like a game of cat and mouse, players must try to survive while searching for clues to unravel the mystery hidden in that ominous place.
Funding and Release
The game needs $150,000 to fund itself, and if funded, it would come to PC. The release for other platforms will depend on the requested budget. As usual, all those who support the project with a donation will be rewarded with copies of the game, signed art, and t-shirts, among other gifts. Perception is being developed by The Deep End Games and will be available on Windows. The game doesn't have a concrete release date yet, but it is expected to arrive on Steam in June 2016.
