Resident Evil: Vendetta Trailer
Resident Evil Vendetta

There's no question that the computer-animated Resident Evil movies are a thousand times better than the live-action films starring Milla Jovovich as Alice. Part of the appeal of Resident Evil: Degeneration (2008) and Resident Evil: Damnation (2012) is that both are set in the same universe as the video games. Resident Evil: Vendetta (also known as Biohazard: Vendetta) is the third installment in this (now) trilogy, which once again features Leon S. Kennedy as the protagonist. But he won't be the only familiar face: he'll be joined by Chris Redfield and Rebecca Chambers (after a long absence from the series).

The story of Resident Evil: Vendetta takes place after the events of Resident Evil 6. The first trailer shows Chris and his BSAA comrades entering a zombie-infested mansion that closely resembles the mansion from the first game. Leon, meanwhile, is seen walking through a morgue, later drawing his weapon on an unknown off-screen target. The second trailer reveals more details about the plot: Chris, Leon, and Rebecca are all trying to stop the main antagonist, Glenn Arias, who is seeking revenge.

Now Rebecca is a university professor whose campus is attacked by monsters, and she is later kidnapped by Arias's minions. Soon the city is overrun by a plague of monsters, and it falls to Chris and Leon to join forces to rescue their friend and stop Arias's plans. Actor Matthew Mercer returns to voice Leon S. Kennedy, as he did previously in Damnation and Resident Evil 6. Produced by Capcom and Marza Animation Planet and directed by Takanori Tsujimoto (Red Tears), Resident Evil: Vendetta is scheduled for release on May 17, 2017 in Japan.
