On October 8, 2026, Samsung announced that Scam Detection would be available in Japan, Canada and India. The company says eligibility can vary by country, region, language, device model and OS or One UI version. Samsung’s announcement names the markets but does not mean the feature is already active for every user there.

Samsung names three markets for Scam Detection

Japan, Canada and India are the markets Samsung named for the feature’s expansion. Whether it appears on a particular Galaxy phone depends on more than installing One UI 9: Samsung also lists the market, region, language and device model as factors.

What Scam Detection is designed to do

An on-screen walkthrough shows the Scam Detection setting in the Phone app and its tone and vibration controls.

Scam Detection is designed to use AI to analyze what unknown callers say and show an on-screen warning if it detects a possible scam. The detection can miss scam calls and flag legitimate ones, so a warning is not a guarantee that a call is fraudulent—or safe.

In the demonstrated interface, the setting is in the Phone app under the three-dot menu, Settings > Call protection > Scam Detection. The controls include tone and vibration alerts.

One UI 9 rollout context

In the same October 8 announcement, Samsung also said One UI 9 was available for Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra. That software rollout is separate from Scam Detection eligibility. NeoTeo previously covered the One UI 9 rollout for the Galaxy S26 series.
