SEVB said on October 30, 2026, that design and process verification for its Xin Bixiao all-solid-state battery was complete and that it was coordinating customer sample-delivery tests. Customer testing had already been reported by May 2026, according to CarNewsChina, so the October statement updated an ongoing program rather than announcing its start.
What SEVB says about Xin Bixiao
SEVB describes Xin Bixiao as a 20 Ah soft-pouch cell with a polymer-composite electrolyte. The company reports an energy density of 400 Wh/kg at the cell level and more than 1,200 cycles under external pressure below 1 MPa. The figure of 400 Wh/kg applies to the cell.
The design includes a 12 μm polymer-composite electrolyte membrane and a nanoscale high-entropy silicon anode. SEVB also reports membrane ionic conductivity above 2.5 mS/cm at room temperature, an anode specific capacity of 2,700 mAh/g, first-cycle efficiency of 96%, and electrode porosity of 5%. The anode figures describe the material, not the whole cell. SEVB’s announcement provides the company’s technical specifications.
The cell tests SEVB reports
SEVB says a 20 Ah pouch cell underwent shear, nail-penetration, heavy-impact, and hot-box tests. In the hot-box test, the cell was held at 200°C for 24 hours. The company reports that the tested cell produced no smoke or fire and could discharge normally afterward.
How Xin Bixiao differs from CATL’s program
Xin Bixiao uses a polymer-composite electrolyte; CATL’s separate solid-state battery program is sulfide-based. Sina Finance reported a 2027 small-batch production target for CATL’s program. That is a target for CATL, not a timeline for Xin Bixiao. For background, NeoTeo covered CATL’s reported 20 Ah solid-state samples.
