Soulart is developing standalone support for Steam Frame for its Station motion-tracking system, the company said on September 15, 2026. The planned integration is aimed at bringing markerless full-body tracking to Valve’s wireless VR headset while keeping Station’s core processing on the device instead of requiring another PC.

What Station is designed to do

Soulart Station is a standalone motion-tracking device for VR games, motion capture and simulations. It uses Time-of-Flight sensing, infrared reflections and 3D body-shape data to track human movement without physical markers. A dedicated NPU and integrated graphics processor handle the internal computations; Soulart says the device does not need a PC or cloud connection for that processing.

The system is designed to work with an accompanying app and can connect through Wi-Fi or USB-C. Its intended uses include full-body tracking in VR, with VRChat identified as a main gaming target. Station has also been reported as connecting to SteamVR.

How the proposed Steam Frame integration would work

Steam Frame is designed as a wireless VR headset with standalone play and a dedicated wireless connection. Soulart’s proposal would add Station as a separate tracking system for the headset, rather than making full-body tracking a built-in Steam Frame function.

That distinction matters: Soulart’s September 15 statement describes support as under development. The company has not presented the integration as a finished feature. If the plan is completed, Station’s local processing could let the tracking setup work with Steam Frame without an additional computer handling Station’s motion calculations.

The specifications Soulart has published

Soulart says multiple Stations can map an area of up to 50 m² and capture movement at up to 120 Hz. The 50 m² figure applies to a multi-Station setup, while the 120 Hz figure describes the maximum capture rate—not end-to-end tracking latency.

The company also describes Station as a scalable system: one unit can operate independently, while several units can improve coverage and accuracy. Soulart says the device uses 300,000 high-density 3D points and 940 nm infrared sensing.

For SteamVR users, the appeal is straightforward. A markerless system could avoid attaching individual trackers to several body parts, while local processing could reduce the hardware chain needed around the headset. The practical result will depend on the finished Steam Frame integration and how Station performs in real VR sessions.

Current status

Soulart’s announcement makes Steam Frame support a development project, not a current Station feature. The company is building toward standalone compatibility while Station remains positioned as a local-processing motion-tracking system for VR and motion capture.
