The Star Wars universe has many fan films to its name, but only a few are of good quality. Without a doubt, Star Wars: Liberation is an incredible Star Wars fan film that tells an interesting story prior to the events of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
This is a moment of great danger for the Rebel Alliance. One of its fiercest warriors, Vince Nurada, has been captured by the Galactic Empire and is being held prisoner aboard an imperial ship. After several months as a prisoner of war, Vince may have finally found his ticket to freedom. This is the brief synopsis of Star Wars: Liberation, a new Star Wars fan film that could well be set just before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, the same space that the imminent Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will occupy.
The Making of the Fan Film
The person responsible for this project is Jonathan Munoz, who directed and wrote the script for this fan film after fourteen months of post-production, four months of preparation, and only one week of filming. To achieve this, Munoz used the program Blender 2.76a for 3D modeling and After Effects CS6 for editing and assembling.
Thanks to that, we can see over the course of ten minutes an entertaining episode with everything a Star Wars fan desires: a Jedi, a lightsaber, imperial soldiers, and a spectacular space battle between TIE starfighters and a TIE Advanced X1 (the same model that Darth Vader uses during the Battle of Yavin in the trench run of Death Star I). Without a doubt, Star Wars: Liberation is the ideal complement to help ease the wait for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
