The consuming rage that drives Kazuya to destroy his father reaches its climax in Tekken 7. How will the Mishima saga end? This year we'll finally find out.
Released in 2015 for Japanese arcades, Tekken 7 is preparing to launch this year on home consoles and PC worldwide. According to game producer Katsuhiro Harada, the story of Tekken 7 will be much darker than ever, close to what was seen in Tekken 4, and will serve as the conclusion of the Mishima clan saga. Finally we will learn the true motives behind the dispute between Heihachi Mishima, his son Kazuya Mishima, and his grandson Jin Kazama, including the origins of Devil Gene and other Tekken mysteries.
Characters and Roster
Tekken 7 will feature thirty-seven playable fighters, of which twenty are part of the default roster; other characters will be added over time. Eight will be new fighters making their debut in this installment, along with a new form of the android Jack and a guest character from the Street Fighter franchise, Akuma, who will play a vital role in the story. An interesting detail is that this game continues the trend of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 where several characters speak in their native languages.
Gameplay Mechanics
The gameplay of Tekken 7 focuses on one-versus-one battles, featuring two new mechanics: Rage Art, which allows you to execute critical attacks when the character's health bar is at its limit, and Power Crush, where the fighter can continue his attacks even when hit by the enemy, although he will still receive damage from the opponent's attacks. The bounce system (bound) is replaced by Screw Attack, causing the enemy to spin laterally when hit in the air, allowing you to inflict additional hits after reaching the ground (but this move cannot be used for combos on the wall). Tekken 7 is being developed by Bandai Namco Studios and will be available on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One starting June 2, 2017.
