Motor.es reports battery capacities of 548 kWh for the Tesla Semi Standard Range and 822 kWh for the Long Range, attributing both figures to a California Air Resources Board (CARB) document. It also reports different range figures for the two versions; a separate account gives different values, so the range claims are best kept tied to their respective sources.
Battery capacity describes stored energy. Range estimates also depend on the configuration and the conditions used to calculate them.
Reported battery specifications by version
Motor.es reports the following U.S.-focused figures for the two versions, attributing them to a CARB document:
| Version | Reported battery capacity | Reported consumption | Reported unladen weight |
| Standard Range | 548 kWh | 1.70 kWh per mile | 19,842 lb |
| Long Range | 822 kWh | 1.70 kWh per mile | 22,928 lb |
The consumption and weight figures are also reported by Motor.es. For background on a different part of the program, NeoTeo previously covered the Semi’s high-volume production at Giga Nevada.
Range figures differ between reports
Motor.es gives the Standard Range a figure of 518 km, about 322 miles, and the Long Range a theoretical 777 km, about 483 miles. TeslaHubs separately reports 325 miles for Standard Range and 500 miles for Long Range. The figures are close for Standard Range and farther apart for Long Range, but each report gives its own values.
European range and charging figures
For the European Standard Range, electrive reports an estimated range of 550 km, about 342 miles, and estimated consumption of 1.0 kWh per kilometer, or about 1.61 kWh per mile. The estimates apply at a gross combination weight of about 88,200 lb, a speed of 50 mph, and 68°F, on a flat road with an Aero Kit and a California-compliant dry van. Electrive describes 548 kWh as a likely battery capacity for this version.
Electrive also reports up to 800 kW DC charging at European Megachargers and 120 kW at Basechargers, intended for longer depot stops and overnight charging. These are figures for the European configuration.
