The Characters

In this group of young mutants we find Illyana Rasputin, better known as Magik, a Russian mutant with sorcery abilities who uses transport discs to travel; Rahne Sinclair, alias Wolfsbane, a Scottish mutant who struggles to reconcile her religious beliefs with her power to turn into a wolf-woman; and Sam Guthrie (Cannonball), a Kentucky mutant who can generate thermochemical energy to fly and, once airborne, be invulnerable.

The other two young mutants are Roberto da Costa (Sunspot), a Brazilian with the ability to manipulate solar energy, and Danielle Moonstar (Mirage), a Native American who has the power to create illusions drawn from the fears and desires of a person's mind. Finally there is Cecilia Reyes, the group's mentor and a doctor with the mutant ability to project a force field around her body.

A Different Take

Instead of continuing the story of the X-Men superheroes already seen in the film series, Fox is attempting something a bit different with a new group of mutants, focusing more on a horror movie than a superhero action film.
