On October 22, 2026, OpenAI announced that Uber had begun rolling out ChatGPT Work, with access intended for more than 30,000 employees worldwide after an initial pilot of 1,000 people.

What ChatGPT Work is intended to do at Uber

OpenAI describes ChatGPT Work as an agent within ChatGPT Enterprise, designed to handle complex, multi-step knowledge work by connecting to workplace tools. The company named Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar and Slack as integrations, and listed research, meeting briefs, presentations, data analysis and workflows across apps among its intended uses.

OpenAI also named GPT-6.1 Sol as the default capability for the Uber deployment and said voice and image-generation tools would be available. Operations, finance, marketing and product were among the functions the rollout was intended to support.

Why Uber says it is expanding access beyond engineering

Watch Uber CTO Praveen Neppalli Naga and OpenAI president Greg Brockman discuss expanding ChatGPT Work beyond engineering and applying agents to workplace workflows.

Uber CTO Praveen Neppalli Naga said engineering teams had adopted AI tools and that other employees wanted access. In a discussion with OpenAI president and co-founder Greg Brockman, the executives also talked about applying agents to workflows while keeping people involved.

Training and continued use of Codex

Uber said it would support the rollout with approved integrations, an internal AI skills library and dedicated employee training. Developers and software engineering teams are to continue using Codex. OpenAI said the companies plan to share adoption, use cases and measurable outcomes as the rollout progresses.
