Capcom lists the free Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo as available on Nintendo Switch 2, following the scheduled release covered in NeoTeo’s earlier report. It covers character creation through Chapter 1-3, “To the Forest,” and requires at least 14 GB. Local play supports up to four nearby hunters, and demo progress can transfer to the full game under specific save conditions. Capcom’s official demo page has the details.

The demo is offline-only, but nearby players can hunt together locally, with up to four hunters. An SOS flare calls AI-controlled Support Hunters. Local communication between the demo and the full game is not supported.

Carrying progress into the full game

You do not need to finish the demo to transfer its save. Capcom’s process is:

  1. Update the full game.
  2. Start it on the same system using the same user account as in the demo, then accept the transfer prompt.
  3. From the title menu, choose Start Game, then Select Save Data, and select the demo save.

An existing full-game save prevents the demo save from transferring. Demo settings and options transfer too.

What early graphics comparisons show

Blunty compares Quality Priority and Framerate Priority during exploration, cutscenes, and combat.

In a report published October 21, 2026, Vandal said early footage appeared to target a fairly stable 30 fps, with reduced resolution and graphical detail. Vandal characterized that account as preliminary. Blunty’s comparison puts Quality Priority and Framerate Priority side by side during exploration, cutscenes, and combat. Blunty describes Quality Priority as favoring image clarity and Framerate Priority as emphasizing motion fluidity.

Player reactions vary: some praise uncapped play, while others report blur, ghosting, and upscaling artifacts.
