Bloomberg reported on November 6, 2026, that prospective buyers were rethinking Anthropic’s IPO valuation after a market selloff. Bloomberg’s article metadata put a possible low at $1.1 trillion; in a Bloomberg Tech segment, presenter Tim Stenovec cited $1.2 trillion. Both figures describe reported expectations.
Reports published November 5 had put expectations at $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion. NeoTeo’s earlier coverage of the reported $2 trillion expectation provides context for the shift.
Anthropic IPO valuation expectations are shifting
The two lower estimates appeared in different Bloomberg formats: the $1.1 trillion figure in article metadata and the $1.2 trillion figure in the video segment. They are not interchangeable as a single valuation; each is a separately reported possible low. Yahoo Finance reported on November 5 that Anthropic had made amended IPO paperwork public.
What Amazon’s Anthropic exposure consists of
Amazon holds Anthropic convertible notes and nonvoting preferred stock, and it has a separate conditional financing facility. Its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 reports the instruments and their accounting values separately. Fair value is an accounting estimate of an asset’s value at a particular date, not the amount originally invested.
| Instrument or position | Reported amount | Measure and timing |
| Convertible-note investments | $8 billion | Invested from Q3 2023 through Q4 2025; some notes were later converted into preferred stock. |
| Series G preferred stock | $5 billion | Investment in Q2 2026. |
| Series H preferred stock | $5 billion | Investment in Q2 2026. |
| Preferred-stock fair value | $92.5 billion | Estimated fair value on September 30, 2026. |
| Convertible-note fair value | $146.2 billion | Estimated fair value on September 30, 2026. |
| Conditional financing facility | $15 billion remaining | Initially capped at $20 billion; availability depends on compute-capacity milestones. |
| Preferred-stock fair-value adjustment | $62.8 billion upward | Adjustment for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, reflecting observable price changes. |
The $15 billion remaining under the facility is not another completed investment: Amazon said no amount was available to draw at inception, and access depends on compute-capacity delivery milestones. The $62.8 billion adjustment records a change in preferred-stock fair value over a stated period; it is a different measure from the amounts Amazon invested.
Amazon’s filing also describes what would happen to its holdings in a liquidity event. Its notes would convert into nonvoting N-class common stock subject to a 12% ownership cap, which Amazon may waive. Each preferred share converts into ten nonvoting common shares. Amazon expects a customary lock-up after an IPO.
Amazon’s reported investment, accounting values and conditional financing answer different questions; read each amount with its instrument and date.
Compute sales are a separate commercial relationship
Amazon’s potential benefit from selling compute services to Anthropic is separate from changes in the accounting value of its holdings. Amazon said its AWS collaboration with Anthropic expanded in Q2 2026 by more than $100 billion over 10 years, including contractual obligations related to AWS chips.
Google is also described as an Anthropic investor, compute supplier and AI competitor. Yahoo Finance reported a possible Google investment of up to $40 billion, subject to performance obligations. It also attributed a $200 billion, five-year TPU agreement to The Information. DiarioBitcoin separately reported at least $114.5 billion in Google compute spending through 2033. The figures have different descriptions and time frames, so they remain separate reported amounts rather than a combined total.
