One of the most popular anime right now is Shingeki no Kyojin, based on the manga by Hajime Isayama, where humanity must face enormous Titans to survive. To take advantage of the franchise's success, what could be better than the release of Attack on Titan, the movie based on Shingeki no Kyojin.
The manga and its story
In 2009, Hajime Isayama created the manga Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin in its original version). The plot is set in a world where humanity lives inside cities surrounded by massive walls to protect themselves from the Titans, gigantic humanoid creatures that feed on humans. The protagonists are the young Eren Yeager, along with his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman and his childhood friend Armin Arlert, who join the military forces to fight the Titans after their hometown is invaded by a group of Titans. As you might have guessed, Attack on Titan is the upcoming Japanese action movie based on that manga.
As you can see in the trailer, Attack on Titan follows the story of Eren Jaeger, a young man who wants to eliminate the threat of the Titans. Everything begins when the Colossal Titan appears unexpectedly, breaking a section of the Wall Maria and creating a large crack, which allows a large number of Titans to enter. From that moment, Eren swears to eliminate all Titans in revenge for his mother's death, and decides to join the army along with his friends. Just like in the anime, the movie will recreate the incredible action scenes where the military forces use the maneuvering equipment to move around the city and attack the huge Titans.
Cast and crew
In the lead roles we have Haruma Miura (Eren Jaeger), Kiko Mizuhara (Mikasa Ackerman) and Kanata Hongō (Armin Arlert). They are joined by Takahiro Miura (Jean Kirstein), Nanami Sakuraba (Sasha Blouse) and Satomi Ishihara (Zoë Hange), among others. Produced by Toho Pictures, the film has a screenplay by Yūsuke Watanabe (Gantz) and will be directed by Shinji Higuchi (The Floating Castle).
Release schedule
Attack on Titan will be divided into two parts. The first part is scheduled for release on August 1, 2015, while the second part, titled Attack on Titan: End of the World, will be released on September 19, 2015.
