Dragon Ball in Super Smash Bros. is the Best Mod in the World
Dragon Ball in Smash Bros.

Released in 2014, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is the latest entry in this fighting series featuring many characters from various Nintendo franchises, including Mario, Donkey Kong, Pokémon, and more. You can also find characters from other franchises like Sonic, Bayonetta, Mega Man, Pac-Man, and even Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy. But if there's a character we'd all love to see and play, it would undoubtedly be Son Goku, the Saiyan from Akira Toriyama, who starred in his own fighting game with other anime and manga characters in J-Stars Victory VS.

In this opportunity, a dedicated fan of Super Smash Bros. took the effort to create a mod, quite convincing indeed, that lets you play as Son Goku. To do this, the programmer, KevintheH, replaced Ryu's model from Street Fighter with Goku's textures. As you can see in the video, it's not just a purely cosmetic modification, as Goku has his own voice (unfortunately in English audio) when performing his famous Kamehameha technique (replacing Ryu's Hadoken).

Other techniques you can see include the Dragon Fist (replacing the Shoryuken) and the Tatsumaki (the spinning kick in the air characteristic of Ryu and Ken). Unfortunately, you can't transform into Super Saiyan, though the video clarifies that this is a beta version, so possibly once finished, you might be able to transform and perform other techniques like the powerful Genkidama. Along with Captain America and Iron Man, Goku is another of the many fighters created via mod by the user community. Let's hope to see more characters like this in the near future.
