Almost a year after Naughty Dog surprised us with the announcement of the sequel to The Last of Us, the studio did it again during Sony's conference at Paris Games Week 2017, presenting an incredible trailer for The Last of Us Part II.
Released in 2013 for PlayStation 3 and a year later in a remastered version for PlayStation 4, The Last of Us puts us in the role of Joel, a smuggler tasked with escorting a teenager named Ellie through a post-apocalyptic United States. After its launch, it became one of the best-selling games, receiving universal acclaim and multiple Game of the Year awards, becoming one of the most awarded titles in history and considered one of the best video games of all time. And great was our surprise when Naughty Dog announced a sequel with the brand new trailer of The Last of Us Part II.
During Sony's conference at Paris Games Week 2017, Naughty Dog presented an incredible trailer for The Last of Us Part II. In the video, a woman is dragged into a camp where several corpses hang from the trees. By the light of the fire, the kidnappers place a noose around the woman's neck and almost slit her open, until one of her allies is captured nearby. The newcomer spits at the camp leader, who responds softly Clip her wings. His henchmen grab a hammer and start beating the captive's left arm. The wings are a reference to the Fireflies, the rebel group that fights against the authorities.
Arrows fly, gunshots ring out, and the revolutionaries prevail, though there is no sign of Joel or Ellie, the main characters of the original game. The protagonists of this new trailer are Yara, Lev, Emily, and an unnamed female character that many speculate is Anna, Ellie's mother. For now, nothing is confirmed, but it is certain that these characters will have their weight in the plot of this highly anticipated sequel. The Last of Us Part II is being developed by Naughty Dog and will be exclusively available on PlayStation 4. For the moment, the game does not have a concrete release date.
