Inside: One of the best games of last year was a short but unsettling adventure called Inside. Developed by the team behind the successful and macabre Limbo, this game puts you in the role of a boy in a mysterious and gray world, discovering all kinds of horrors along the way. It starts as a simple platformer, but gradually reveals itself as something more complex, and much darker than it initially seems. The developers made a fairly perfect transition to a touchscreen device, where much of the gameplay simply involves walking to the right and solving small puzzles along the way. Developed by Playdead, Inside is available exclusively on iOS systems.
Lineage 2: Revolution
Lineage 2: Revolution (Free): If you enjoyed Lineage II, be happy because a direct sequel exclusively for mobile devices has just arrived. The story of Lineage 2: Revolution takes place one hundred years after the events of Lineage II: Goddess of Destruction, and, like many MMORPGs, you start by creating a character and choosing its race (Human, Elf, Dark Elf, and Dwarf). Each race specializes in different classes, such as warrior, mage, and archer. Once done, you start the game by taking missions and killing monsters to gain experience and level up. The action takes place in the same world of Lineage II and features instanced dungeons, PVP, clan wars, raids, and a series of missions to advance the story. Octodad: Dadliest Catch: Octodad is possibly one of the most ridiculous concepts for a video game. He is, as the name implies, an octopus pretending to be human and has to control his clumsy tentacles throughout his daily life while keeping his true nature a secret. As expected, the controls of Octodad: Dadliest Catch are quite ridiculous and silly, which in turn leads to some fun moments. Octodad's struggles with common tasks are a rather touching metaphor for the struggles of an outsider just trying to be normal. To the Moon: Originally developed six years ago for computers, To the Moon is an indie game with pixelated graphics that emphasizes its plot. The story, set in the future, follows two doctors who volunteer to fulfill the last wish of a dying man using artificial memories. The game has relatively few gameplay mechanics, where you basically control the two doctors, exploring scenarios, interacting with objects, and solving puzzles while trying to reconstruct the memories of the dying man to fulfill his wish. It is very similar to a graphic novel designed so the player can follow the exciting story of this game without getting too distracted. Developed by X.D.
