In one reported OptiScaler test, moving DLSS 5 Neural Rendering ahead of Super Resolution raised average frame rates from 54 to 81 FPS in The Blood of Dawnwalker and from 57 to 84 FPS in Black Myth: Wukong. The setup used a GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Ryzen 5 7600X, 32GB DDR5, and 1440p High settings. Frame Generation was not used.
What changes when Neural Rendering runs first
The tweak reverses the order of two processing stages. Neural Rendering works on the game image at its lower internal resolution, then DLSS Super Resolution reconstructs the 1440p output. Processing the smaller image reduces the work handled by Neural Rendering, offering a reason for the higher averages in the reported test.
The reported FPS results in two games
Both results came from the same reported test configuration: GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Ryzen 5 7600X, 32GB DDR5, 1440p High, and no Frame Generation.
| Game | DLSS 5 after Super Resolution: average FPS | DLSS 5 before Super Resolution: average FPS |
| The Blood of Dawnwalker | 54 | 81 |
| Black Myth: Wukong | 57 | 84 |
The speed gain comes with a visual trade-off
The pre-Super Resolution image was reported as less pristine than the standard order. The higher frame rates therefore came with a visual compromise.
Community tools and online-game risk
The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti test used community tools rather than native DLSS 5 integration. OptiScaler warns that using the mod in online games may trigger anti-cheat software and lead to a ban.
