Return of the Jedi. Princess Leia. Jabba the Hutt's slave. The bikini. An image that burned itself into the minds of millions of fans with fire and laser. The truth is that Carrie Fisher doesn't appear many times in the iconic outfit, but that didn't eliminate the need for a stunt double for the most demanding moments.
The double is named Tracey Eddon, who developed a very good friendship with Carrie during the filming in the Yuma desert, documented through an excellent series of photographs.
Howard Kazanjian producer of Return of the Jedi explained that filming in the Yuma desert was very complicated because the buggy enthusiasts "covered the dunes like ants", and the last thing they needed was a vehicle accidentally recorded in what would later become Tatooine. I suppose the camouflage on set worked very well, since no one reported the two goddesses of the sand who spent time sunbathing there. Of course, I mean Carrie Fisher and her stunt double Tracey Eddon, both dressed in 'the' bikini.
Who is Tracey Eddon? A true professional, without a doubt. Her work as a double extended to Superman III, Supergirl, several James Bond films (pre and post Brosnan), Batman, Mission: Impossible, Harry Potter VII part 2, John Carter, and even Doctor Strange. She also has several television credits, among which Classic Doctor Who stands out.
