How difficulty and gameplay changed
Hard is a new difficulty, and the rebalance applies across all modes. Konami says the changes aim to smooth out the difficulty curve. Resources also change in some sections. The player’s position now appears on the map in every mode, while enemy hearing sensitivity increases with difficulty.
The update limits The Weight’s reduced attack severity to Story Mode.
New guidance, menus, and accessibility changes
A warning now appears when a first playthrough is set to Nightmare, and the difficulty descriptions are clearer. The update also adds hints and tutorials, revises some puzzle hints and item wording, and improves valve-status lighting for colorblind players.
The options menu is reorganized. Its control-remapping label now clarifies that keyboard and mouse commands can be remapped, as well as control-pad commands.
Ray Reconstruction is a PC option
Konami lists NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction as an option for PC. The update’s other listed gameplay and interface changes include PlayStation 5, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
