Snap Inc. settled claims by K.D.B. and S.J. in a Los Angeles social-media bellwether case, plaintiffs’ lawyers announced Nov. 2, 2026, two days before opening statements were scheduled. A report published Nov. 4 said the trial was off the table.

The planned Los Angeles trial did not proceed

A bellwether is a test case intended to help guide similar lawsuits. The agreement came before opening statements, and no jury decided whether the allegations against Snap were true. The amount and terms were not disclosed. Snap said it was pleased to resolve the matter amicably.

Our earlier report on the Los Angeles case covered the stage when Meta’s settlements left Snap as the remaining defendant. Meta had settled its claims with K.D.B. and S.J. before Snap did; TikTok and YouTube had also settled their claims in the proceeding.

The agreement covers two plaintiffs’ claims

K.D.B. and S.J. alleged that social-media design features encouraged compulsive use and contributed to harm. Before the settlement, Snap disputed the plaintiffs’ account of their experiences and the way they characterized Snapchat’s design. The settlement resolved their claims without a trial verdict against Snap.

Separate sign-ups associated with Labaton Keller Sucharow concern individual arbitration claims. Snap’s reported agreement with K.D.B. and S.J. is not an announced general payout or account-restoration program for those other claimants.
