The trend of recreating games with Epic Games' engine shows no sign of ending. We have already seen wonderful adaptations of Mario and Pokémon, and this time a fan has taken the work of recreating the classic The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 4.
Since Tim Sweeney, founder of Epic Games, announced that Unreal Engine 4 is free for everyone, many fans have taken on the job of recreating their favorite games using the power of this engine. We have already seen adaptations of Mario and Pokémon, and this time an artist named Michael Eurek took the work of recreating the classic The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 4 in a nearly two-minute video that shows the Zora's Domain according to the power of the new generation.
Unfortunately, Link, Zelda and the other characters of Hyrule do not appear anywhere, as the video is only a tour of the different landscapes of Zora's Domain. A pity for all those who expected to see their favorite characters recreated with the Unreal Engine 4 engine. Even so, the level of craftsmanship recreated in this video is magnificent to the eye. Michael has been working for two months on this recreation, where besides using Epic Games' engine, he had to use several software such as Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, Xnormals and Quixel Suite.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is praised as one of the most important titles in the history of video games. Originally released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64 and later adapted for GameCube, iQue Player, Wii and Nintendo 3DS, each of these versions took full advantage of the graphical power of their respective platforms. Of course, none benefited from the power of Epic Games' engine until we saw this recreation made by a fan. Let's hope Nintendo takes note of these projects and deigns to surprise us with a game that takes full advantage of the power of Unreal Engine 4.
