A Long-Awaited Comeback
It's been thirteen years since the last episode of The X-Files aired in May 2002, and seven years since the release of the film The X-Files: I Want to Believe in 2008. Just when we thought the adventures of Mulder and Scully had come to an end, we were surprised by the announcement of The X-Files' return as a miniseries. Even Fox joined the campaign by airing the entire series again in the United States, one episode per day until the premiere of this new miniseries. In the latest preview, we saw the appearance of several familiar characters, but now a new video with the behind-the-scenes where Chris Carter, David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and all the key actors reveal the secrets of the return of The X-Files has just been released.

We already know that this miniseries will consist of six episodes. In fact, in the opening episode, which was shown at the New York Comic Con on October 10, Mulder and Scully follow a case involving a possible extraterrestrial abduction. The X-Files will include a mix of standalone episodes and the mythological episodes of the original series, and will feature guest appearances, including Joel McHale (Community), Robbie Amell (The Flash), Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under), Annabeth Gish (The Bridge), Annet Mahendru (The Americans), Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) and Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley).
Actors David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are putting on the suits again to reprise their roles as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Mitch Pileggi also returns as FBI Deputy Director Walter Skinner, along with William B. Davis, who repeats his role as The Cigarette Smoking Man. While three of the episodes are written and directed by Chris Carter, the remaining episodes are in the hands of veterans of the original series, such as Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan and James Wong. The X-Files will be broadcast on Fox on January 24, 2016, with the second episode just one day later.
