Xbox opened a Cloud Playtime preview for eligible Xbox Insiders without an active Game Pass subscription on October 21, 2026. They can buy prepaid cloud-streaming hours, but still need a supported device and either a purchased game that supports cloud play or access to selected free-to-play games. Xbox said a broader rollout was planned for November 2026.

What Cloud Playtime includes

Cloud Playtime pays for streaming time, not access to the Game Pass catalogue. A bundle therefore does not unlock Game Pass games: you need a cloud-playable game you own or access to a selected free-to-play title. You also need a supported device.

The preview is for eligible Xbox Insiders without an active Game Pass subscription. Xbox says access and purchase options can vary by market, device, account eligibility and preview ring.

Bundle prices and cost per hour

Xbox announced three introductory bundle prices in US dollars. Dividing each price by its included hours gives the approximate hourly cost:

Cloud-play hoursIntroductory price (USD)Calculated cost per hour (USD)
10$3.99About $0.40
25$7.99About $0.32
50$11.99About $0.24

The 50-hour bundle has the lowest calculated hourly cost, but the highest upfront price. Xbox says purchased hours remain available until used. For more on Xbox cloud-gaming bundles and access rules, read NeoTeo’s earlier coverage.

What to expect from the preview

Xbox describes the paid packs as ad-free, with shorter waits and high-quality streaming. It announced the wider rollout as a plan for November, while noting that access conditions can vary by market, device, account and preview ring.
