Meduza reported that Yandex announced on October 13 that it would waive Yandex Cloud and Yandex 360 charges through the end of October. The same report said Yandex Pay had been partially restored. Those updates followed reports of service disruptions after drone attacks at Yandex data-center sites in Sasovo, Kaluga, and Vladimir between October 8 and 11. Read NeoTeo’s earlier report on Yandex Cloud’s account of the Vladimir data-center shutdown.

What the reports said was affected

Users described problems spanning everyday apps and work systems. In selected accounts published by Meduza, taxi bookings stalled, Yandex Maps showed missing or inaccurate transit information, and people could not download or preview files in Yandex Disk. Other accounts described trouble with smart-home functions, online-course tools, courier orders and payouts, and businesses hosted on Yandex Cloud. One business owner said they restored data from backups and moved services to another provider.

RFE/RL also reported disruptions involving grocery chains Magnit and Lenta, Lamoda stores, Twinby, Yandex Go, Yandex Pay, and Yandex email. Together, the accounts describe interruptions to both customer-facing services and systems used at work. They are individual reports, not a measure of how often each problem affected users.

A Yandex developer told Meduza that internal messaging and monitoring systems failed after the reported incident in Vladimir, interrupting alerts and complicating the recovery effort. That account points to a practical challenge during an outage: teams can have trouble coordinating a response when their own communications and monitoring tools are affected.
