A comparison published September 17, 2026, set stock DLSS 4.5 against an experimental DLSS 5 setup applied through an injector in 007 First Light. At 4K, with full hardware path tracing and maximum graphics settings, it described clearer fine-detail reconstruction and less flicker and ghosting.
What the comparison tested
The comparison used the game’s stock DLSS 4.5 profile as its baseline and applied experimental DLSS 5 neural rendering through an injector. The two setups were compared under the same reported conditions: 4K resolution, full hardware path tracing and maximum graphics settings.
| Profile | How it was applied | Reported visual findings |
| Stock DLSS 4.5 | The game’s stock profile; comparison baseline | Reference for the visual comparison |
| Experimental DLSS 5 | Neural-rendering setup applied through an injector | Reportedly clearer fine-detail reconstruction, with less subpixel flicker and dynamic ghosting than the DLSS 4.5 baseline |
What changed in the image
The comparison described improved reconstruction of fine grilles, an Omega watch dial and the bodywork of an Aston Martin Valhalla with its injected DLSS 5 setup. It also reported less subpixel flicker and dynamic ghosting than with the stock DLSS 4.5 profile.
Those observations concern fine-detail rendering and image stability. They are qualitative findings from this comparison, not a frame-rate verdict.
The experiment and the official update
NVIDIA said its September 15, 2026 PC update for 007 First Light had gone live with path tracing and DLSS Ray Reconstruction. DLSS Super Resolution and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation were already supported in the game.
That update is separate from the DLSS 5 setup: the test applied DLSS 5 through an injector, rather than using the stock DLSS 4.5 profile. The experiment therefore describes an injector-based setup, not a native DLSS 5 feature of the game.
The test system
The reported system paired an ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 5090 with 32 GB of video memory and a 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D. It also used 64 GB of DDR5-6000 memory with CL30 timings, GeForce Game Ready driver 616.92 and Windows 11 Pro 25H2.
