RTX40MFG-Unlock is community software associated with dashdogy. A hands-on test published on September 12, 2026, observed MFG 4X behavior on the tested RTX 40-series cards in Cyberpunk 2077. That answers the narrow question: yes, MFG 4X ran on those cards in that game and configuration.

The scope matters. The result covers the RTX 4090 through the RTX 4070, not every RTX 40-series model. It also covers Cyberpunk 2077, not a universal list of compatible games. The mod requires a game with a Streamline DLSS Frame Generation integration, and compatibility can vary.

What the test actually involved

The game ran with maxed raster settings, path tracing, DLSS Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction and MFG 4X. The output resolutions and DLSS modes changed together:

MFG creates additional generated frames between rendered frames. That can make movement look smoother, but a higher frame counter does not automatically mean lower input latency. The two metrics answer different questions: visual fluidity versus how quickly an action reaches the screen.

Latency matters more than generated FPS

The test used roughly 60ms of average input latency as a practical criterion for noticeable decoupling between input and displayed frames in this AAA single-player scenario. It is a test-specific reference, not a universal definition of responsive gameplay.

With MFG 4X alone, every tested card stayed within that criterion at 1080p. At 2560×1440, the RTX 4090 and RTX 4070 remained on opposite sides of the reference: the chart reported 45.8ms for the RTX 4090 and 71.1ms for the RTX 4070 with DLSS 5 off. The RTX 4070 Super also sat slightly above the roughly 60ms reference under those conditions.

Adding the unofficial DLSS 5 mod pushed latency above the reference for every tested Ada card except the RTX 4090 in the 1440p test. That is the practical warning: MFG 4X does not automatically make gameplay responsive. GPU, output resolution, DLSS mode and the software combination all matter.

At 4K with DLSS Ultra Performance, MFG 4X alone did not produce a broad latency problem in the reported setup, although the RTX 4070 was close to the reference. Most Ada cards also showed lower latency at 4K than at 1440p, an unusual and reproducible result whose cause was not identified.

Artifacts, the 1440p anomaly and the crash

The smoothness gain came with visible baggage. MFG 4X and higher multipliers produced artifacts at the bottom of the frame on Ada hardware. They are the kind of defect that can turn a clean camera pan into a reminder that the image is being reconstructed rather than fully rendered.

The 1440p latency behavior was another significant caveat. Results did not simply worsen as resolution increased: under the reported conditions, most Ada cards showed lower latency at 4K than at 2560×1440. The pattern was reproducible, but no cause was identified.

Stability was not uniform either. A newer ReShade-free build crashed Cyberpunk 2077 during the reported test and was not benchmarked. The project’s README also warns that compatibility varies and that freezes, black screens, artifacts and crashes remain possible.

The repository state identified in the project documentation was Universal RTXMFG v1.3.2, with fixed multipliers up to 6X and Dynamic MFG where supported. Those controls describe what the project exposes; they do not turn the experiment into an NVIDIA-supported feature.

That video provides feature context, not independent measurements of the RTX 40-series mod. The distinction is crucial: a community implementation can demonstrate that a behavior runs on tested hardware without changing NVIDIA’s official support position.

A useful experiment, not a guarantee

For an RTX 40 owner, the takeaway is straightforward. MFG 4X has been demonstrated on RTX 4090 through RTX 4070 in Cyberpunk 2077, and the reported motion improvement is not merely theoretical. But the same test found artifacts, a peculiar 1440p latency pattern and a newer build that crashed before benchmarking.

Treat RTX40MFG-Unlock as experimental software with a narrow demonstrated scope. It may extend what a tested RTX 40 card can do in one game, but it does not replace official RTX 50-series support or guarantee a clean, responsive result across hardware and games.
