While Iron Man in 2008 was the starting point for Marvel's cinematic universe, bringing with it the first phase of superhero films that culminated with The Avengers, DC Comics took its time before finally giving the green light with the release of Man of Steel in 2013. Like Marvel, DC Comics plans to make a movie for each superhero and bring them all together in the upcoming Justice League. And this sequel, titled Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, aims to show us its origin, prior to a conflict between two superheroes.
During yesterday, the trailer was leaked and a few seconds of video went viral online. With no other choice, Warner Bros. had to release the official trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that same day, which was scheduled to premiere on Monday. In the video we can see Superman, now a controversial figure as the world's only savior, and Bruce Wayne, who after a time away returns to the Batman suit and drives his classic Batmobile and Batplane. Both heroes prepare for a fierce battle that will give rise to the Justice League.
The lead cast includes Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne / Batman) and Henry Cavill (Clark Kent / Superman), along with Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) and Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth), among others. Produced by DC Entertainment, Atlas Entertainment and Cruel and Unusual Films, the film will be directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen, Man of Steel). Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set for release on March 25, 2016 in theaters and will be available in IMAX 3D.
