In about three months, the biggest blockbuster in Warner and DC history will hit the big screen. Two iconic, historic, and irreplaceable characters will finally come face to face in a story whose specific details are still kept under wraps. And now... a small preview. Everything seems to indicate that the cowled billionaire has bitten off more than he can chew, and if there is one thing we are certain of, it is that Superman looks furious...
Allies in the big picture, but very different in their methods. On one side, natural talent and the privilege of being an alien with superpowers. On the other, intelligence, perseverance, and an enormous amount of resources. At heart, both want justice, but their interpretations of how to achieve (and apply) it can be quite opposed at times. That inevitable conflict has enriched the relationship between Batman and Superman for many years. On March 25, 2016, that relationship will rise to a new level when the two DC heroes clash on the big screen, courtesy of "Batman v Superman", the second entry in the so-called "DC Extended Universe".
The new trailer will debut today on American television, but before that, let's take a look at what we already have: 49 seconds, nothing more than that. How did Batman end up in that situation? Why hasn't he escaped yet? (to be honest, Batman should take less than 30 seconds to get out of that jam) Who are the men tied up next to him? Why are the guards kneeling before Superman? Why is Superman so angry? Is that even Superman? Let's recall for a moment what happened in the last trailer: Bruce Wayne witnesses Superman's fight in the city and the destruction it causes, Lex Luthor moves his pieces, General Zod ends up out of the freezer... the possibilities are many.
I hope the next trailer gives us more solid details, in a balanced way of course. Nobody wants to see a trailer that reveals too much of the film, and both Warner and DC must play their cards well. Let's not forget that there will only be five months between Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, so their fate is likely shared.
