Anthropic announced Smart Reports’ general availability for Claude Enterprise on October 28, 2026. The feature analyzes a sample of team sessions and groups activity into workstreams, outputs, costs, outcomes, and pain points. For ordinary sessions, viewers can open a cost-ranked drilldown with a one-paragraph summary and session details. Personal and restricted-topic sessions receive aggregate-only treatment under Smart Reports’ safeguards.
What Claude Enterprise Smart Reports analyze
A Smart Report organizes sampled Claude activity to help an organization review how teams use the service. Reports can cover a selected team, a period of up to 28 days, chosen Claude products, and selected analysis areas. Administrators can also add custom questions. Before creating a report, they can preview how many sessions will be sampled.
The results group activity into workstreams and output types, with spending attached. They can include deliverables, task outcomes, pain points, inefficiencies, recommendations, and other selected analysis. Smart Reports are available on Claude Enterprise plans and start turned off. An Owner or Primary Owner enables the feature under Organization settings > Capabilities > Analytics. Primary Owners, Owners, Admins, and custom roles with Analytics view access can create and view reports. Anthropic’s Smart Reports guide
What a session drilldown shows
For an ordinary session, the drilldown ranks sessions by cost and gives the viewer a one-paragraph summary, the Claude product used, the date, and the output type. The summary and metadata provide a compact view of the session’s work.
Identity is controlled separately. Attribution is off by default. If an authorized viewer enables it, they can reveal names and session IDs in a report, and each reveal is logged. Anthropic’s guide to delegated access
How personal and restricted-topic sessions appear
Smart Reports treats personal and restricted-topic sessions differently from ordinary sessions. Personal conversations appear only in aggregate counts and costs, without individual-session drilldowns, summaries, or names. Restricted-topic sessions are used only for aggregate analysis and receive no session summaries.
| Session category | What the report shows | Individual session detail |
| Ordinary session | Cost-ranked drilldown, one-paragraph summary, product, date, and output type | Summary and metadata; identity reveals are optional and logged |
| Personal conversation | Aggregate counts and costs | No individual drilldown, summary, or names |
| Restricted-topic session | Aggregate analysis | No session summary |
Anthropic says Smart Reports are not designed for individual performance evaluation or employment decisions. That restriction applies to Smart Reports.
Who can run reports for a team
An Owner, Primary Owner, or custom role with Analytics and Identity & Access permissions can grant a team lead scoped access. Delegates need Custom roles access and can be assigned up to 50 groups, departments, or cost centers of each type per person.
A delegate can view reports they ran or that someone shared with them. They cannot run a report for the whole organization or manage access. Anthropic’s delegated-access guide
Report limits and excluded configurations
Each organization can run up to 10 Smart Reports per month at no charge. Queued and in-progress reports count toward that limit; failed reports do not. The limit resets on the first day of the next calendar month.
Smart Reports are unavailable to Enterprise organizations using customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK), a HIPAA configuration, or a hybrid deployment that runs inference on the organization’s own cloud provider. When Claude Code uses zero data retention, reports cover Chat and Cowork but exclude Claude Code.
