VR Zone Shinjuku Expands with Ghost in the Shell
A few months ago we told you about VR Zone Shinjuku, the virtual reality fair created by Bandai Namco. Located in a well-known shopping center in Tokyo, this tech fair includes several playable prototypes such as Dragon Ball VR “Master the Kamehameha”, Evangelion VR “The Throne of Souls”, and Mario Kart Arcade GP VR. But starting next month the fair grows, as Bandai Namco has just announced its next big attraction, Ghost in the Shell: Arise Stealth Hounds. This virtual reality experience is designed for eight players divided into two groups of four.
The Experience: Full Body Tracking and Eight Players
Located in a prepared space of 20m x 12m, players use specialized HTC Vive headsets connected to MSI backpack computers, as well as VR trackers on legs and arms to complete the full body tracking system. Similar to playing Laser Tag with friends, players of Ghost in the Shell: Arise Stealth Hounds have to shoot each other in an open field, but in the virtual world they'll be moving through narrow corridors as members of a special forces team created by Major Motoko Kusanagi, joining the fight against a terrorist organization.
In addition to being able to take cover and strategically develop ways to flank your opponents, it's important to know that the Ghost in the Shell universe is set in the future, which means you can use various tech devices, such as Kusanagi's camouflage (allowing you to disappear from enemies' view, revealing yourself when you make a sound), prosthetic body, and cyberbrain. Ghost in the Shell Arise: Stealth Hounds will be available starting December 9 at VR Zone Shinjuku. So if you're interested, go ahead and reserve your ticket.
