The Story
The story of Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation begins with the emergence of the Syndicate, a secret nation of highly trained spies who kill on commission without scruples. The organization's goal is to dissolve the IMF by eliminating all its agents. Unfortunately, agent Ethan Hunt is on that list and is one of the first to be tracked. With the help of his colleagues William, Benji, and Luther, Ethan plans to defeat the Syndicate in a new and risky adventure that can only be classified as an... impossible mission.
A Franchise That Refuses to End
Many of us thought the franchise had reached its end after the release of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol in 2011. How wrong we were! Fortunately, Tom Cruise, at fifty-two, continues to show us that he can still undertake the most dangerous missions in this film franchise that has been running for almost twenty years. And in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation we'll see plenty of action scenes with hand-to-hand combat, shootouts in vehicle chases, and even a jump where poor Ethan ends up hanging from the door of an airplane... in the middle of takeoff!
Cast and Release
Tom Cruise reprises his role as agent Ethan Hunt alongside actors Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, and Ving Rhames. The rest of the cast includes Sean Harris, Rebecca Ferguson, and Alec Baldwin, among others. Produced by Skydance Productions, the film will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher). Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is scheduled for release on July 31, 2015, in theaters.
