TweakTown and DSOGaming reported on Oct. 23, 2026, that an in-game setting labeled “DLSS-NR” in Metro 2033 Redux was DLSS 5 Neural Rendering. Deep Silver’s notice for the free PC update, scheduled for Oct. 22, described the feature simply as DLSS.
What the METRO Redux update includes
Deep Silver scheduled the free PC update for Oct. 22, 2026, and the console update for Oct. 29. Existing owners of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux on Steam, Epic Games Store, Windows Store, GOG, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S are eligible. The official update notice lists 4K textures, improved animation fidelity, higher-quality audio, richer environmental detail, bug fixes, and quality-of-life changes. For PC, it lists DLSS and spatial audio. Deep Silver describes the update as an enhancement to the Redux games, not a full remake or remaster.
Why reports identify DLSS-NR as DLSS 5
TweakTown and DSOGaming identified the in-game “DLSS-NR” option as Neural Rendering, or DLSS 5. Renan Maniero also posted about the discovery on Oct. 23, saying the Redux games had gained DLSS 5 Neural Rendering and describing the DLL in the game folder as the latest version also used in NBA 2K27.
What the visual comparisons show
TweakTown described changes to character detail and lighting in Metro 2033 Redux. In its comparison of Metro: Last Light Redux, DSOGaming said character changes stood out more than changes to the environments. These are visual assessments from the respective reports, not standardized image-quality scores.
Which performance figures apply to Metro 2033 Redux?
TweakTown reported more than 120 FPS in Metro 2033 Redux on a GeForce RTX 5090 with DLSS Super Resolution set to Quality. The same report described a significant performance cost from DLSS 5.
DSOGaming’s separate Metro: Last Light Redux comparison reported 220–250 FPS with DLSS 5 and more than 330 FPS without it, at native 1440p with DLAA. Those figures belong to Last Light Redux, not Metro 2033 Redux.
One player’s report of display problems
Reddit commenter u/cronos12346 said that after the update, Metro 2033 Redux would not select 4K resolution or enter fullscreen. The commenter said a community mod fixed the resolution problem and separately reported about 320 FPS at 1440p with DLAA on an RTX 4080. This is one player’s account.
