Apple announced on October 26, 2026, that Spanish had joined the beta of Siri AI in its 27.2 software updates. Spanish was already an option for standard Siri; the change applies to Apple’s newer Apple Intelligence assistant, which requires compatible hardware and matching Siri and device languages.
What Apple added to Siri AI
Apple’s announcement covered iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2, and visionOS 27.2. It added French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish alongside English. Siri AI remains a beta feature. Apple also said Chinese (traditional), Norwegian, Turkish, and Vietnamese were planned by the end of 2026.
Apple describes Siri AI as able to use personal context, take actions across apps, understand what is onscreen, and access current information about the world. Siri AI is part of the wider Apple Intelligence suite. Our earlier look at Apple Intelligence’s tools and limitations covers the broader feature set.
How to set Siri to Spanish, and what Siri AI requires
On iPhone, go to Settings > Siri > Language and choose Spanish to change Siri’s language. For Siri AI, Apple requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device and the same supported language for Siri and the device. Apple’s iPhone guidance names iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or an iPhone 16 model or later for Siri AI. Changing Siri’s language also changes the language used for Maps directions and Listen to Page in Safari.
Apple says Siri AI is unavailable to users under 13. Some Apple Intelligence features that rely on servers may also have daily usage limits.
Spanish message reading is separate from bilingual conversation
A separate Siri feature can read messages in additional languages. In a March 2024 report, CNET said Siri could read messages in Spanish while continuing to listen and respond in the iPhone’s primary language. That describes message reading, not a Spanish-English conversational mode.
Where Apple says Siri AI is unavailable
Apple says Siri AI is unavailable in the European Union on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS. Its announcement names those platforms for this restriction.
