A Rare Glimpse Behind the Scenes
The filming of Return of the Jedi extended from January to May 1982, six weeks less than the time available for The Empire Strikes Back. Some details are particularly juicy, like the process of convincing Harrison Ford to reprise Han Solo once more (his original contract was for two films).
Few things top this fabulous gallery of Polaroid photos taken directly on the set. Puppets, classic sets, aliens impossible to forget, and, of course, all our heroes appear in them. From Imperial officers to Nien Nunb (do you remember him?), passing by Commander Tiaan Jerjerrod, Bib Fortuna, and Malakili… we can only add that the person behind that Polaroid camera did a solid job.
Many of these images make us happy, and others hurt a little… for Carrie (I apologize, it still makes me very sad). At the same time, the photos carry impressive historical value, because they let us see aspects that didn't necessarily make it into the final version of the film. I hope you enjoy them.
