With three films in its timeline and more than two billion dollars collected, the DC Extended Universe defies the critics and prepares for its next step with Wonder Woman. Today we find what is technically its first trailer outside the material presented at the last Comic-Con, and as we have already seen, the beautiful Gal Gadot looks perfect in the role of the mythological warrior.
After the debut of Batman v Superman, a series of comments among the hundreds of thousands who criticized the film basically asked to "get the dolls out of the way" and focus on Wonder Woman. Why did that happen? Perhaps people are still not convinced that Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck are suitable for their respective roles, or it could be simple fatigue. In contrast, the little that was seen of Gal Gadot gives us the feeling that the role of Wonder Woman fits her like a glove, and there is something more: we know nothing about the character herself. When I speak of 'knowing', I mean her details in this particular universe. So far it has been confirmed that with the exception of Batman, every hero will have their origin film, and the next in line is Wonder Woman. Let's go with the trailer:
As Gadot herself said, this version of Wonder Woman is very different from the one seen in Batman v Superman. Although a hundred years are nothing for the warrior princess, the new film shows her as more idealistic and impulsive, determined to save the world once she learns all the details about the First World War and its consequences. While it is very interesting to see Wonder Woman kicking butts one trench at a time, she will also have to face a classic rival such as Doctor Poison (no spoilers here, since she was named in the cast and appeared in the Comic-Con trailer).
A quick recap for the record: Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis, Lisa Loven Kongsli and Spanish actress Elena Anaya as Doctor Poison make up the full Wonder Woman team. There is still no confirmed release date in Spain, but it is likely to share the same day as the United States, so we are talking about June 2, 2017. Five months later, Justice League will arrive.
