Year after year, San Diego Comic Con delivers important exclusive previews, and this year is no exception. Justice League, made up of Batman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Cyborg, will hit theaters in November, and with a few months to go, we've learned a lot more about it. DC's recent history on the big screen
DC's recent history on the big screen has had major ups and downs since Batman vs Superman. The most important confrontation in the cinematic history of superheroes left much to be desired, with a far-fetched plot and hard-to-sustain plot holes. Then came Suicide Squad, a film that came to sink the ship further and showed everything you shouldn't do in cinema: terrible editing, excessive flashbacks, and a plot that makes no sense. When it seemed that DC's big-screen history was on a downward spiral, the opposite happened. Wonder Woman brought out all that the others couldn't and revived a saga that seemed doomed.
What the new trailer reveals
Let's get to what matters. The new Justice League trailer gives us several revealing details, such as the enemy our heroes will face. It's Steppenwolf, who commands the army of his nephew Darkseid and comes to Earth to take the three Mother Boxes that allow creating dimensional portals to travel anywhere in the universe, in addition to other hidden powers. The interesting part of the plot is that Cyborg, according to director Zack's statements (currently Josh Whedon is in charge), will be a living box. Let's remember that this villain had a brief cameo in Batman vs Superman that was later removed. He's also the first survivor of Doomsday, the monster that "killed" Superman. Even without seeing his face in this new trailer, Steppenwolf looks more than intimidating and promises to be a great enemy.
Justice League also gives us the chance to get to know a little more deeply those characters we haven't seen on the big screen in this new saga: Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. The first two will have their own movies next year, while Victor Stone (Cyborg) will have his in 2020. Barry Allen, played by Ezra Miller, has had the most punch of these three, revealing a bit more of a character that will also have a dose of humor.
Superman's appearance and Alfred's line
In the last seconds of the trailer, the expected happens. Superman's appearance is evident in this new DC installment, where we see Alfred saying "he said you would come, now let's hope it's not too late". In addition to the nod on the official poster we see at the beginning of the article.
Now bring on the long months of anxiety until November arrives to see if Justice League can prove that Wonder Woman wasn't just an oasis in the desert and take this saga to the heights it deserves.
