Anthropic made Smart Reports generally available for Claude Enterprise on October 28, 2026. The feature analyzes a sample of selected team transcripts, grouping Claude activity into workstreams and output types and associating them with spending, reported friction, and recommendations. It is off by default and is available to Enterprise organizations.

What Smart Reports analyze
An organization can choose a team or other configured group, a date range of up to 28 days, and the Claude products to include: chat, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, or a combined chat and Cowork experience. A report organizes sampled activity into workstreams and deliverables. Its sections can cover outcomes, pain points, inefficiencies, complex or autonomous work, tasks new to the organization, self-automation, and the most expensive sessions.
Interactive charts let authorized viewers open session-level details, including a summary, product, date, and output type. Sessions can be ranked by cost. That gives a team a way to inspect the activity behind a group-level pattern, subject to the access and privacy controls below.
Who can run reports and delegate access
A Primary Owner or Owner must first turn on Smart Reports under Organization settings > Capabilities > Analytics. Owners, Primary Owners, Admins, custom roles with Analytics viewing access, and authorized delegates can create reports within their permissions.
A team lead does not need organization-wide report access to be a delegate. An Owner, Primary Owner, or appropriately permissioned custom role can assign a person with Custom roles access to specific groups, departments, or cost centers. Each delegate can receive up to 50 assignments of each scope type, but cannot run an organization-wide report. Delegates can see reports they created or that someone shared with them; they cannot access other unshared reports or rename, archive, or delete reports.
What session details and attribution reveal
Opening a session drilldown does not automatically display a person's name. The separate Allow attribution to individual users setting is off by default. If an organization enables it, viewers still have to reveal names and session IDs, and those reveals are logged.
Sessions involving restricted topics receive aggregate-only treatment: they have no individual summaries or drilldowns. Anthropic lists topics including health, union activity, harassment or whistleblower complaints, privileged workplace legal content, political or religious views, personal life, and sentiment about a named person. The company says Smart Reports are intended to support adoption and investment planning, not individual performance evaluation or employment decisions.
Eligibility and the monthly allowance
Smart Reports are unavailable to organizations using customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK), a HIPAA configuration, or a hybrid deployment that runs inference on the organization's own cloud provider. If an organization uses zero data retention for Claude Code, reports can cover chat and Cowork but exclude Claude Code.
Each organization can run up to 10 reports per calendar month at no charge. Queued and in-progress reports count toward that limit; failed reports do not. The allowance resets on the first day of the next calendar month.
