DLSS-NR-on-AMD listed Alpha 0.4.2 as its latest release on September 27, 2026, and reported a 15% performance gain over Alpha 0.4.1 at 1080p on Radeon RX 9000 in Fast mode. The project is an unofficial, experimental attempt to run DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on AMD graphics cards.

What the Alpha version claims compare

The project’s release notes report successive performance gains against earlier versions. Each percentage has its own baseline and conditions:

VersionReported performance changeComparison and conditions
Alpha 0.3.323%Over Alpha 0.3.2
Alpha 0.4.042%Over Alpha 0.3.3
Alpha 0.4.18%; a separate additional 9%8% over Alpha 0.4.0; the separate 9% increase was reported under heavy gameplay loads with priority-queue mode
Alpha 0.4.215%Over Alpha 0.4.1 at 1080p on RX 9000 in Fast mode

Combining the 23% and 42% claims gives about 74.7%: 1.23 × 1.42 − 1 = 0.7466. That is compounded arithmetic across the Alpha 0.3.2-to-0.4.0 version comparisons, not a measured FPS gain.

Alpha 0.4.2 offers Fast and Reference modes. Fast uses less expensive arithmetic; Reference retains NVIDIA’s exact arithmetic. The project says RX 7000 cards always use Reference mode.

Cyberpunk 2077 on the Radeon RX 9070 XT

Gameplay and installation footage shows DLSS-NR-on-AMD running in Cyberpunk 2077 on a Radeon RX 9070 XT.

A separate creator-reported test in Cyberpunk 2077 used a Radeon RX 9070 XT at 3,440 × 1,440. It reported 30–35 FPS before the Pre-Pass improvement and 45–50 FPS with Pre-Pass. This result belongs to that demonstration, not to the Alpha 0.4.2 claim above.

How the project works and what it requires

DLSS-NR-on-AMD maintainer Daniel Blanco describes the project as a ground-up implementation for AMD GPU architectures, using HIP kernels, memory layouts and game integration rather than translating NVIDIA code at runtime. The project requires the user’s own nvngx_dlssnr.dll, version 310.8.0.0.

The stated software and game requirements are Windows 11, AMD Adrenalin driver 26.1.1 or later, and a DirectX 12 game using FSR 3 or FSR 4. The listed game-side requirement is FSR support.

The project targets Radeon RX 9000 and names the RX 9070 XT as tested. Its maintainer says RX 7000 cards should work and asks users to report results. Older GPUs are not currently supported by the project’s stated requirements. DLSS-NR-on-AMD is not affiliated with or endorsed by AMD or NVIDIA.

Experimental status and anti-cheat

DLSS-NR-on-AMD remains Alpha software. Its maintainer says games with anti-cheat will block the DLL and directs users to run it only with anti-cheat off.
