Marvel Surprises with an Early Trailer
While fans count the days until the global release of Doctor Strange and the continuation of "Phase 3" in the Cinematic Universe, the folks at Marvel decided to add a little spice to the situation and release this small trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Star-Lord and the rest of "his?" team promise to tear up the big screen again with more action, more humor, and a good dose of 70s music.
Fans Go Wild
Marvel movie enthusiasts took less than six seconds to recognize the brand-new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Although we all knew the movie was on the way, many of us imagined Marvel and Disney would wait for Doctor Strange's release to reveal more material, but they decided to let the teaser loose today, or rather, yesterday. Honestly, there's not much to see—just a minute and a half of video—but with over two and a half million views in less than 24 hours, I think the message is pretty clear. The general criticism didn't hesitate to place the first Guardians of the Galaxy above Age of Ultron and Ant-Man, sharing the same step as Captain America: Civil War. And 2017 will be a true feast for followers of the Cinematic Universe, with the first standalone Spider-Man movie, and the third in the Thor series, Ragnarok. That said, bring on the trailer!
A Closer Look
Well, something tells me Star-Lord made a mistake with Gamora, and his "man talk" with Drax followed by the hug is a real show. Apparently, poor Peter just needs someone as pathetic as him, and if we think about it, he got lucky with Gamora. Speaking of her, she still has some issues to resolve with Nebula, whom we see for half a second (more or less). Of course, no trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 would be complete without Rocket making a hole in something or someone, and accompanied by "little" Groot.
The Returning Cast
All the main names are still there: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper. Michael Rooker also returns as Yondu, as does Karen Gillan as Nebula, and personally I find two names very interesting: Glenn Close as Irani Rael of the Nova Corps, and Kurt Russell in the role of Ego (which would be in human form, not planetary). Release dates are still incomplete, but everything points to May 5, 2017 in the US and Spain.
